North West Africa 998, an extremely rare and unique nakhlite meteorite from Mars, provides important historical clues concerning Mars’ past. This panorama image, shown here in cross polarized light, provides an incredible view of this precious meteorite which amazingly found its way to Earth and into the hands of scientists.

Zagami Meteorite Thin Section
Meteorite thin section panorama of the Zagami Meteorite. Amazingly, the story of this fall proclaims that the object fell within ten feet of a farmer in Nigeria — can you imagine that happening to you! Classed as a Martian Shergottite, it represents the most commonly recovered type of meteorite with Mars as its parent body.
