Agoult Meteorite Thin Section

Found in Agoult, Morocco this unbrecciated eucrite contains relatively large zircon crystals which crystallized around the date 4,554.5 Ma. Considering its ancient age, along with its mineralogy and petrology, the Agoult Meteorite is likely a unique sample of the original Vestan crust. This thin section, seen under cross polarized light, exemplifies nature’s artistic ability to create beautiful stained glass. Additional details on Agoult can be found at Meteorite Studies.

NWA 2737 Meteorite Thin Section

Stunning thin section of the chassignite NWA 2737. This cross polarized view of one of the rarest Martian meteorites captures a scene on the surface of the Red Planet of intense violence. The brownish coloration of the olivine results from the influence of intense shock pressures. More details at Meteorite Studies.
